Appointments & Bookings
No — osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners in Australia. You can book directly without seeing a GP first. If you do have a referral letter, bring it along as it's helpful, but not required.
Initial consultations are 45–60 minutes. Follow-up appointments are typically 30–45 minutes. You'll never feel rushed — we take time to understand what's going on.
You'll leave your first session with an honest estimate. Most people need 3–6 focused sessions. If you need more, we'll explain exactly why. We don't do open-ended treatment plans.
Yes. Use our online booking system for instant scheduling. Alternatively call 0409 794 007 or email hello@risesportsspinal.com.au.
Comfortable clothing you can move in — gym gear is ideal. You remain fully clothed during assessment and treatment.
Absolutely. You're welcome to bring a support person to any appointment.
Health Funds & Costs
Yes. If your Extras cover includes osteopathy, we process your rebate on the spot via HICAPS. Bring your health fund card.
Osteopathy is not covered by Medicare for standard consultations. However, if you have a chronic condition and your GP sets up a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, you may be eligible for Medicare-subsidised sessions. Ask your GP if you qualify.
Please call or book online to confirm current fees. We aim to be transparent — you'll always know the cost before you arrive.
Yes. We see WorkCover patients. You'll need a valid WorkCover claim number and certificate of capacity from your GP. Contact us before booking to confirm the process.
Yes. If you've been injured in a transport accident and have a TAC claim, we can treat you under TAC. Contact us first to confirm eligibility and paperwork.
Treatment & Techniques
We start with a thorough history — understanding your problem, when it started, what makes it better or worse. Then a physical assessment including movement, posture, and hands-on testing. We'll give you a clear diagnosis and treatment plan before you leave.
Yes. Osteopathy is evidence-based and tailored to your body. Steven is AHPRA-registered and will never do anything you're not comfortable with. Techniques are always explained beforehand.
Treatment shouldn't be painful. Some techniques involve gentle pressure or mobilisation that can feel slightly uncomfortable temporarily, but you're always in control. Speak up and we'll adjust.
There's significant overlap between all three. Osteopathy takes a whole-body view, blending manual therapy with movement and strength-based rehab. We'll tell you honestly if we think another practitioner would be a better fit.
Yes. Dry needling (also called Western acupuncture) is available as an adjunct to osteopathic treatment. It's particularly useful for muscle tightness and trigger points. See our dry needling page for more.
Yes. We see children and adolescents for sports injuries, growing pains, postural issues, and general musculoskeletal pain. Techniques are adapted appropriately for younger patients.
Conditions & Special Circumstances
Yes. Osteopathy is commonly used during pregnancy for low back, pelvic girdle, and postural pain. Pregnancy-safe positions and techniques are used throughout.
Chronic pain is complex and we take it seriously. Osteopathy won't be a cure for all chronic conditions, but we can often help reduce pain, improve function, and give you better strategies for managing flare-ups.
We treat many post-surgical patients. Always let us know your surgical history — we'll liaise with your surgeon if needed and adapt treatment accordingly.
Yes. Cervicogenic headaches (headaches originating from the neck) and tension-type headaches often respond well to osteopathic treatment. A proper assessment helps determine whether your headaches are likely to benefit.
