WorkCover and TAC Claims: Seeing an Osteopath
If you have been injured at work or in a transport accident, getting good treatment should not be complicated. Osteopathy is a recognised treatment under both WorkCover and TAC in Victoria, and we regularly treat patients from Berwick, Cranbourne, Pakenham and across Casey under both schemes at our clinic.
Osteopathy under WorkCover
If you have injured yourself at work anywhere in Victoria, WorkSafe covers reasonable treatment for your work related injury, and osteopathy is included. The common injuries we treat under WorkCover include lower back strains from lifting, neck and shoulder complaints, and gradual overuse injuries from repetitive work. To get started you will need a claim from your employer and a certificate of capacity from your GP. Once your claim is accepted, treatment costs are billed to the WorkCover insurer.
Osteopathy under TAC
The TAC covers treatment for injuries from transport accidents in Victoria, whether you were the driver, a passenger, a cyclist or a pedestrian. Whiplash and other neck injuries, back pain and soft tissue injuries are the typical complaints we manage after road accidents. You will need to lodge a claim with the TAC and receive a claim number, which we then use to bill treatment. If you are unsure where your claim stands, bring what you have and we will help you sort out the rest.
What to bring to your first appointment
Bring your claim number, the details of your insurer or agent, your certificate of capacity if you have one, and any letters or reports about the injury. If your claim is still being processed, let us know when you book and we will talk through the options so treatment is not delayed. Clear records matter in these claims, and we take care of the reporting and correspondence that the schemes require.
Our approach to injury claims
Recovering from a work or road injury works best with active, goal focused treatment aimed at getting you back to normal duties and normal life. We combine hands-on osteopathic treatment with a graded exercise plan, communicate with your GP, and document your progress properly. If you have a WorkCover or TAC claim and want treatment closer to home in Berwick, call the clinic and we will make the process straightforward.
